It's what you'll come to expect from the Scott Benson Band- pianos leading into full-out rock symphonies with distorted guitars, electric violins, and operatic vocals. One of their first singles even features hip hop artist Ursa Maja working cleverly-stitched lyrics through the band's signature rock symphonies.
The band describes their debut as the score for an unwritten film that has unexpected twists and turns, and an undecided ending... soon after its release in 2012, the album was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award in the Instrumental Album of the Year category. The band proceeded to land an opening performance at the Western Canadian Industry Awards, and also showcased with two performances during Breakout West.
The band has been selected for performances at the 2013 Juno Awards week, Ford World Men's Curling Championships, Brier Curling Championships, Mix 103's Biggest After Work Party, and the Saskatchewan Winter Games' opening and closing ceremonies. The Scott Benson Band was also the very first band to play at Mosaic Place, performing for the Grand Opening in 2012.
Scott Benson has played extensively across Canada, including performances at Celtic Colours International Festival in Cape Breton, and CelticFest Vancouver. In 2012, Scott kicked off a solo tour of Scotland and Ireland with performances at Piping Live! in Glasgow.
When it comes to the Scott Benson Band, expect the unexpected. Even then you'll be surprised...
